The partnership is responsible for the Community Centre Miners Welfare Hall, which is held in trust from the E.D.C.

THANKS: The Steering committee, with the tireless efforts of the chairman Jim Grigg and the secretary Eileen Smith and the invaluable help of Lyndsey Jordan of the Community Network Team has obtained grants over the last 3yrs for things like cctv, alarms outside lighting, fire doors, security fencing, catering equipment, youth pod, furniture for the library, thanks has been expressed on behalf of the community to Neighbourhood Renewal project, Community safety unit, Argos, Coalfields regeneration trust, Sherborn house trust, County Durham Foundation, East Durham Homes, Renaissance project, and Aim High East Durham business.

The parish Council has been very busy with providing new sports facilities, showers, toilets, security cameras and lighting at the recreation grounds. (Some of this work is ongoing.) And a joint project is underway to update the old caretakers flat to provide a partnership office, parish council office together with a filing room and refurbished kitchen and a caretakers/managers office along with the new gas conversion this will complete the last phase of the refurbishment.

Well that’s all the acknowledgements and everything that is happening in the centre for this month. If there is anything you would like to see happen in the centre, please let us know. Come along, have a chat with some one. Or if you would prefer, leave a message in the library.
Hopefully the next newsletter will be out in June, so if you want some items of news added into it just call the centre.
